Act 10: 2018 - Superheroes in Texas and Filming in LA

In 2018, SPANDEX received its regional premiere with The Luckenbooth Theatre in Forth Worth, Texas. It was exciting to see our first show take on its own life outside of Wishbone with a new group of artists.

And then, for something completely different, Wishbone once more joined forces with Ripley Improv and associate produced their fully improvised film (which is now a series making its rounds on the festival circuit this winter!). For five days, the female improv powerhouses of Ripley, including Wishbone’s own Laurie Jones created 5 fully improvised films from start to finish. Kimberly Van Ness designed the costumes. Since the suggestions for each film were kept a secret until the cameras began rolling, the designers had to get the actors prepped without giving anything away. With genres ranging from romance to horror, this was quite a challenge!

This was truly a season of exploration for Wishbone - from watching our work take on its own life to exploring new mediums, it opened our eyes to new opportunities in storytelling and got us excited for the year ahead!
